ZRP - No Egypt demonstrations in Zimbabwe

Confidential documents leaked to the press by human rights groups allege
that ZANU-PF militants currently wreaking havoc around the country were
trained at the Inkomo Army Barracks west of the capital beginning last
Novembe

A senior official of the Zimbabwe Republic Police has threatened to crush
any Egyptian-style protests by the Movement for Democratic Change formation
led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, further stressing the power-sharing
government.

Senior Assistant Commissioner Clement Munoriyarwa, in charge of the province
of Harare, told the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation that Egyptian-style
mass protests would not be tolerated.

"This is wishful thinking," he said. "The situation in Egypt will never be
tolerated anywhere in Zimbabwe..We want to assure the nation that we are
fully prepared for such violent activities and our officers are already on
the ground to ensure peace and tranquility prevails in the country."

The beatings still continue

Five MDC activists were badly injured after they were assaulted by Zanu PF thugs in Mbare at Carter house this afternoon. The five: Patrick Mufuka (34), Charles Magurira (38), Edson Muneka (31), Godfrey Mutowo (38) and Francis Kadigo had to seek medical attention at a Harare hospital. According to the five, Zanu PF youths, abusing young boys of between 14 and 17 years, moved around the Mbare fresh fruit produce market uprooting known MDC activist and leading them to Carter House were they were assaulted.

Meanwhile, most market stalls went up in flames at the popular fresh fruit produce market in Mbare following a violent attack by the Zanu PF youth.

Zanu PF has been bussing in youth from surrounding provinces into Harare where they have launched an operation ngatizivane. They have mostly targeted Mbare, Chitungwiza and Budiriro. The MDC has condemned these actions as barbaric and unproductive to an ailing nation which sought real change.

Violence continues

Elvis Marume, 42, a teacher at a faith-based school in
Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland West Province, has been threatened with death by
alleged elements of the ruling ZANU-PF party's youth militia in response to
rumours that he had spoken disparagingly about the country’s land reform
policy.

"I was sleeping with my family when a gang of about eight youths, whom I
know as they reside in a nearby village, knocked on the front door and
demanded to see me. Not suspecting anything, I opened the door for them and
one of them violently pulled me outside,” he told IRIN.

"They showed me what looked like a gun and told me that they were going to
kill me because they had received reports that I was teaching my students
that the land reform programme was bad because it had created food shortages
in the country."

Marume has since applied for a transfer to the capital, Harare, hoping for
safety, but there has been an upsurge of political violence in many parts of
the country, including Harare, ahead of possible national elections.

The AU wants Robert Mugabe to help with the Ivory Coast stalemate. Come on, what help can Bob be?
This is a slap in the face to all in Ivory Coast and the region.
Mugabe is not a man that has a heart.

I pray that the lessons this week will see to it that true democracy will always be honored. We are God's children not dictaor instruments.

Tunisa has shown us that UNITY works.

A united front got rid of a true dictator. No need for a repeat of Zimbabwe, Kenya or Ivory Coast.

I pray that this be a lesson learned for all leaders and for all citizens that a united front can bring about change.

No leader is above God or above the power of a united people.
